Patient Education
For patients, professionalism and compassion are the bedrock of the quality care we provide. We’ve created a comfortable atmosphere where patients are valued and respected. We encourage patients to be active participants in their care and have provided the following resources to assist in this process.
Informational Sheets
Chemoembolization Therapy
Chemoembolization therapy is used to treat liver tumors or for postsurgical adjunctive treatment. Chemotherapy medicines are injected into the liver through blood vessels, delivering a high local dose of cancer killing medicine directly to the tumor or tumor area.
Endovascular Procedures
When a procedure is done inside a blood vessel, it is called an endovascular procedure. MVP diagnoses and treats blockages in arteries and veins using angiography, which is also called an angiogram. Treatments include angioplasty, stents and atherectomy.
Microwave Ablation
Microwave ablation is a treatment that uses electromagnetic waves to create heat and directs the heat though a needle probe which is inserted into a collection of abnormal cells or tumor.
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
PAD is a buildup of plaque in the walls of arteries, which reduces or blocks the flow of blood in your limbs.
Radioembolization (Y-90 SirSpheres)
Radioembolization is used to treat primary liver cancer and other cancers that have metastasized to the liver. The preparatory angiogram is performed to map out the veins and arteries of the liver and block those that leave the liver and go to other organs.
Varicocele Embolization
Varicocele embolization uses imaging guidance and a catheter to place small metallic coils and/or embolic fluid in the gonadal vein to divert blood
flow away from a varicocele. It’s less invasive than conventional surgery, can safely relieve pain and swelling, and may improve sperm quality.
